Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the WSET Level 3 Exam Prep mobile application provided by AbeFlutter (ABEFLUTTER). This app is an independent, unofficial study tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, approved by, or sponsored by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET).
Data stored on your device
The app stores learning and preference data locally on your device. Depending on the features you use, this may include:
- multiple-choice answers, scores, progress, completed questions, bookmarks, and question order;
- free-text answers entered for written-response practice;
- self-assessment checklist selections and written-response scores;
- active and completed mock-exam state, including selected answers, written answers, timing, and marking progress;
- tasting-reasoning answers, results, and weakness statistics;
- study history and statistics;
- display settings, last position, and Premium unlock status; and
- a local question-view counter used to determine when an advertisement may be shown.
This learning data is not uploaded to or stored on AbeFlutter's servers. Deleting the app normally removes its local app data from the device. However, copies may remain in, or later be restored from, backups managed by Apple, Google, your device, or your backup settings.
The app includes an option to delete learning data from within Settings. Purchase entitlement is retained so that a valid purchase can continue to be recognized or restored.
Account and information you provide
The app does not require an AbeFlutter account or login. You do not need to provide your name, email address, or other contact information to use the app. Text entered into written-response exercises remains in the app's local storage and is not sent to AbeFlutter.
If you contact AbeFlutter by email, the information in your message is handled only as necessary to respond to your request. Your email service provider also processes that communication under its own terms and privacy policy.
Analytics
The app does not include an AbeFlutter-operated analytics, behavioral analytics, or crash-reporting SDK. Google Mobile Ads may process advertising and app-interaction information as described below.
Purchases
Premium access is offered as a single one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. AbeFlutter does not receive or store your full payment-card or bank-account details.
For purchase and restore processing, Apple or Google may provide the app with product identifiers, transaction status, purchase or restore status, and receipt or purchase-token data. The app uses this information to determine whether Premium access should be unlocked. Purchase processing is subject to the applicable store's terms and privacy policy — see Apple's Privacy Policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/) and Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
The current app does not send purchase receipts or purchase tokens to an AbeFlutter verification server. Premium entitlement is determined from the purchase information supplied by the platform store and is then recorded locally on the device.
Advertising
Before Premium access is unlocked, the app uses Google AdMob to display interstitial advertisements. Google and its advertising partners may process information such as device identifiers, IP address, advertising interactions, approximate location derived from network information, and app or device information, subject to the user's choices, platform permissions, applicable law, and Google's policies.
After Premium access is unlocked, the app stops requesting and displaying advertisements during normal use.
The app is not designed or directed primarily to children under 13. Ad requests are explicitly tagged as not child-directed. The app does not use that tag to determine whether an individual user is above the applicable age of consent.
For more information about Google's processing, see Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites).
Consent management
The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request and manage advertising consent where required, including in the EEA, United Kingdom, Switzerland, and other applicable regions.
When Google reports that privacy options are required or available, a "Privacy options" entry is shown in the app's Settings screen. Availability depends on Google's consent status and regional requirements, so the entry may not be displayed to every user at all times.
Choices made through UMP are processed and retained by the Google Mobile Ads SDK in accordance with Google's policies.
App Tracking Transparency on iOS and iPadOS
On iOS and iPadOS, the app may display Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission request after the app interface is fully visible and only when advertising is eligible to be requested.
If you allow tracking, the device advertising identifier may be used for personalized advertising and advertising measurement. If you ask the app not to track, the app will respect that choice. Ads may still be shown where permitted, but the advertising identifier will not be available for tracking without permission.
You can review or change this permission in the iOS or iPadOS Settings app. The ATT permission is separate from choices presented through Google's UMP.
Online pages and external links
The app can open the AbeFlutter Privacy Policy and Contact pages in an in-app browser. It can also open app-store pages and selected external cross-promotion links. Opening an online page necessarily sends network information such as your IP address, browser or device information, and the requested URL to the page's hosting provider and any resources used by that page.
External websites, app stores, email providers, and linked services operate under their own privacy policies. AbeFlutter does not transmit your local study answers or progress when you open these links.
Your choices
Depending on your platform and region, you can:
- deny or change the iOS or iPadOS tracking permission in device Settings;
- use the in-app Privacy options entry when Google reports that it is available;
- reset or delete learning data from the app's Settings screen;
- uninstall the app to remove its local app data from the device, subject to platform backup and restore behavior; and
- unlock Premium to stop advertisements from being requested and displayed during normal use.
Requests relating to data processed independently by Apple, Google, an advertising partner, an email provider, or another external service may need to be directed to that provider.
Data security and retention
Learning data remains in the app's local storage until it is deleted through the app, removed when the app is uninstalled, or affected by platform backup and restore behavior. AbeFlutter does not maintain a server-side copy of this learning data.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. Device security, operating-system protections, and your backup settings also affect the protection and retention of local data.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the app, third-party services, or legal requirements change. The revision date at the top of this page indicates the latest published version. Material changes will be announced on this page or through another appropriate notice.
